First and foremost, OnMail is not an email client like for example our Edison Mail app, but rather it is an email service provider. This is an important nuance because email clients are built to manage all of your email accounts from different providers, but are limited in their functionality as each provider operates with different rules at a technical level.
OnMail is unique because it is an actual email service that modernizes entire email infrastructure, and giving consumers more control over their email than ever before. For example, it offers many free features including Accept Sender control over who can or cannot enter you inbox, automatic blocking of email spy pixels that enter your inbox, sending huge files that other services limit, the abilities to split your inbox into many, a handy Done System to keep your mailbox clean, and also take inbox breaks. Intelligence is also gracefully integrated into your daily interactions in smart suggestions to clean up spam, follow up on emails, manage important details like shopping and subscriptions, more powerful search, and more.
OnMail does offer import accounts as a premium feature, and while some might wonder why they have to pay for it, there are several reasons. First email storage can cost a lot over decades, and making it a paid feature supports our efforts as an independent and growing company to keep innovating the best email experience possible for our customers against much larger competitors. Next, unlike other email services the cost of our email service is a few bucks per month, and we never sacrifice our users’ privacy the way others do by allowing ad targeting of email users in exchange for free import account functionality. Finally, our import account system is so much more than just the ability to connect/manage multiple accounts, it was engineered from the ground up to offer exclusive and unique features we built like accept sender, split inbox, done and much more that offers real value across ALL your accounts including those from other providers that otherwise would not be compatible at a technical level as we continue rolling out new and never seen before features.
We hope this helps clarify what OnMail is really offering -- in the long run, it’s more choice, control and privacy protection for consumers in email from a very simple, modern and powerful new email service. It's important to mention, we’re currently evaluating how to introduce a free trial of our paid features in the future, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience!
